Romsey Valentine's Do 2012

 
First time for the Filipino Community in Romsey to do a Valentine's Party and it was my wife Lofel and I who prepared the event from invitation, posters, food and even lights and sound.  Of course with the support of my brother, sister-in-law and my sister back home in the Philippines.

The gig was held in William IV pub in Romsey. It was a very nice event from food to music as well as the staff of William IV pub.  I bought a Disco Pod Lights from Maplin and I got it on sale for only like £24 something.  It has six colours and speed adjustments and it can be re-arranged according to your style.  Also I used my ION Center Stage portable PA system which was connected to my Behringer K450FX PA/Keyboard amp as an extension speakers.  Then I used my Behringer Xenyx 1002FX mixer for the mic in as well as my HP mini netbook and iPad for my backing tracks and DJ app for mixing.

I invited Milay to sing with me that night and she sang beautifully songs from Adele like Someone Like You and Rolling In The Deep as well as Sixpence None The Richer's Kiss Me, Sarah Mclachlan's Angel and then up beat and danceable tunes like Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5, Mr. Saxobeat by Alexandra Stan and We Found Love by Rihanna and Calvin Harris... and a lot more.  Thank you Milay for sharing your talent and beautiful voice.

It was a very simple setup that night.  I got my Lyon Strat by Washburn plugged in to my Digitech RP55 multieffects guitar processor into Behringer Xenyx 1002FX out and into Behringer K450FX PA/Keyboard amp with extension speaker out into ION Center Stage.  The microphones I was using were Shure C606 and Peavey microphone into Behringer Xenyx mixer and the iPad and HP mini netbook also into the Xenyx mixer.  With the addition of Maplin's Disco Pod lights, the gig was almost a perfect small gig venue for Valentines.

Front Act on Introvoys Concert in Roxas City

We were invited to do a front act on Introvoys Concert in Roxas.  During those time, Introvoys was a big hit especially with their song Line To Heaven and Will I Survive to name afew. There were a lot of bands that time who's going to front act and I can't remember exactly the names but there's one that I can still remember and it's called Freaky Deaky, not sure if the spelling is correct. They sang Nirvana, Offspring, Collective Soul, etc. where they almost consume the entire time for all the frontacts.  We were the last band and the organizer asked us to cut short with our setlist and we ended up with just 3 songs.  We were not pleased but anyhow, we still chose our 3 best songs and that were Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie And The Blowfish where I was the one who sang it, To Be With You by Mr. Big and our bassist, Dolores sang it then our last song was Hotel California by Eagles where Jingle and I blend together at the ending guitar solo and Louie sang it. My DIY pedalboard

I am using an improvised setup for my effects and gadgets.  At the moment what Im using is a Digitech RP55 guitar processor and I bought on ebay an M-Audio expression pedal and sort of opened it and changed some polarity inside to match my Digitech foot pedal and it was a success.  I can now use the pedal either as a wah or whammy.  I was quite pleased with it because not only it's a small one but it's got a big punch. So much for that.  Now, having two pedals; a multieffects processor with the expression pedal connected to it, I think a pedalboard is a necessity.  Why?  Because the two pedals keep moving about and I had to kick it each time so that they are close to each other. What to do then? First thing's first, I looked online for DIY pedalboards as well as proper pedalboards that are commercially available and ready to be used.  Well, it's all good but I got an improvised setup so I was thinking that it won't fit my needs.  I ended...
