We were invited to do a front act on Introvoys Concert in Roxas. During those time, Introvoys was a big hit especially with their song Line To Heaven and Will I Survive to name afew. There were a lot of bands that time who's going to front act and I can't remember exactly the names but there's one that I can still remember and it's called Freaky Deaky, not sure if the spelling is correct. They sang Nirvana, Offspring, Collective Soul, etc. where they almost consume the entire time for all the frontacts. We were the last band and the organizer asked us to cut short with our setlist and we ended up with just 3 songs. We were not pleased but anyhow, we still chose our 3 best songs and that were Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie And The Blowfish where I was the one who sang it, To Be With You by Mr. Big and our bassist, Dolores sang it then our last song was Hotel California by Eagles where Jingle and I blend together at the ending guitar solo and Louie sang it. The crowd was very quiet while we did the instrumental part of Hotel California and even Introvoys band members were already there that time listening to us while we play the song.
By the way, the setup during that night was.... Mapex drumset, Peavey amplifiers, Jingle was using Zoom 1010 and RJ black strat copy borrowed from his cousin Shoti, Dolores was using an SG bass copy borrowed from her brother, I was using Louie's Lyon Sunburst strat by Washburn and the famous orange stomp box called Boss DS1 Distortion. We enjoyed the concert that night because the band was really good from Paco's drums, to Vic Carpio's lead, JayJay Buencamino's keyboards, Joberth Buencamino's bassline and Jonathan Buencamino's vocals, they are extraordinary. According to some Rock critics, they said that Introvoys is just one of those Pop Rock band but for me especially hearing them live, up close and personal, they are not just a soft, light, pop rock band. They are really talented and excellent in their own right. Not only for their success in selling records and their charisma to their fans and audience but if you hear Paco Arespacochaga on drums, the way he kick the bass drum is so loud that you can feel your heart pounding, it was so clean, clear and precise the way he plays the drums and Vic Carpio's solo that is unique and does his own style, playing with the whammy bar, pinch harmonics, etc. that is so clean and perfect timing on every notes, Joberth and JayJay complementing the two musicians and Jonathan the crowd favourite.... they are serious musicians and Im glad that I've met them. Although, one downside was, Paco Arespacochaga just stayed in the band's dressing room the whole time while the rest was mingling with other bands who did the frontact. And after they finished their gig, they just ran away and did not sign any autograph that was the most disappointing part. I got a songbook where I wrote some of my composition, but that disappeared as well because I gave it to one of the organizer to let Introvoys sign on the book but it just disappeared just like when the band ran away from Roxas City Civic Centre. It was a busy day for Introvoys I've heard coz they still got places to go from one concert to another.
