We were invited in Iloilo by Brewsky's Bar to do a concert and it was held in Amigo Hotel Hall. We didn't realize it was a big concert because we thought or feel like there was not much of promotion for our concert. Anyways, Jojo Lao, owner and manager of Mariano's Grill and Restaurant was the one who booked this gig for us and we are from Roxas City Capiz, that's why may be we did not know the marketing and/or promotion side of the show because we're from next town.
I can't remember exactly our line up but the band had additional members, Franklin was on percussion using bongo, timbales, cowbells and chimes. Then, back up singers, Jojo himself and Devon, where they did some songs themselves.
There were also loads of Capiznon who witnessed and partied with us during that gig who are studying in Iloilo that time, mostly from Central Philippine University and St. Paul's Iloilo because the school is quite near the hotel.
Our opening song was Sunchyme by Dario G but with a twist, Jojo was singing Life In A Northern Town and The Promise mixed together, then the rest of us were chanting just like the ones in Sunchyme. I love the keyboards part and the percussion part of the song. The crowd went wild that night, some girls were ledge dancing, screaming, enjoying the groove especially with the song Living La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin. Again same line up of songs, INOJ's Time After Time version and Love You Down, Hey by Fatima Rainey, Together Again by Janet Jackson, September and Let's Groove by Earth, Wind and Fire and many more like Buttercup, Give It Up, Tenderness, Celebration, I Will Survive, You To Me Are Everything.... Mike Francis hits like Friends and Let Me In and a lot more.
Again our instruments and amplifiers were Korg X5 into Marshall keyboard amp, RJ black strat copy into Fender Super Champ amp, Fender Precision Bass into Carlsbro bass amp, Pearl Drum Kit with Gibraltar hardware, Zildjan set of cymbals and Paste splash, Peavey 20-channel mixer and JBL PA system.
We stayed overnight in the hotel because they gave us a complimentary room. It was fun staying in the hotel after the gig, living like a rockstar overnight. It was memorable to me that gig.
