First Gig in England

I was, by chance, invited in a house barbecue party with our friend Rhoda who's got a very close "English" friend, Caroline. There at their house, I met Mike -- Caroline's husband. Mike and I had a chat whilst others were busy with barbecue and other food. Then, I saw a drumkit which is Pearl, a lovely set.  Also in that lounge there's a mini-pool table.  I asked Mike if I can try the drums and he said "only if you win the 9-ball billiards with your mates."  I told him that I'm not very good with billiards, but he said that's the condition.  And so I played and accidentally or by pure luck, I won.  So, I had the chance to play the drums and Mike took his acoustic guitar and we jammed.  Then, I told him that I am more comfortable with the guitar and then we swapped and jammed again and he got carried away and took his Ibanez SG type electric guitar and we jammed together, one acoustic and one electric guitar.

The inevitable offer came and he said that they have an upcoming gig and they needed an extra guitar player and if I can join the band.  I was really happy and immediately I said yes. Then, we set the practise dates as well as gave me some songs to learn.  And during our first rehearsal, I met his son Ali who's the one playing the drums and he is an excellent drummer.  He's got a mate called Dave, who plays the bass and got a very good gear setup... a Behringer bass amp and an Epiphone Thunderbird Bass.  There were a lot of songs that we jammed and we ended up choosing Mustang Sally, Everybody Wants To Rule The World and Summer of 69 as our top 3 songs which will be playing at the Hamperball Gig in Netherwallop, England.

After few rehearsals, Mike told me that it would be great if I can have my own gear and so I bought this Lyon black strat by Washburn and paired it with a digital multieffects processor which is Digitech RP55 and Ali lend me his 15W Panther guitar amp by Hohner.  I fiddled around to get the best sound of my guitar, foot pedal and the amp which after less than an hour, I got it.  When we finalized everything, Mike said we needed backing vocals and that's where Lofel, my lovely wife joined us for backing vocals and the band was complete, ready to rock on.

Here's the sample of my first gig in England.  Thanks to my good mates/best band mates Mike, Ali and Dave.

How to export MP3 in EnergyXT

Energy XT file save as MP3 The first thing we need to do in order to export our file, loop, clip, song or project into MP3 is to download and install LAME file to EnergyXT program.   Here’s the link where to download the LAME codec   http://lame.sourceforge.net/ Here’s another site where you can download LAME file.   http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php After successfully downloading the LAME exe file.   Copy it and paste it in your EnergyXT folder.   Normally the directory will be like this C:\Program Files\Energy XT\energyXT 2.5 for Windows Try and open now your EnergyXT and save or export file as MP3 to see if it works.

EnergyXT comes with a flashdrive

EnegyXT comes with a portable drive or what we call flash drive.   In there are necessary files to run EnergyXT to any computer from a desktop or a laptop or a netbook as long as you got access to USB. The files that we need to copy are: clips presets projects samples temp\ energyXT2.exe energyXT.ini lame.exe libaam.dll xt.lck     energyXT2 VST.dll      energyXT.ini And paste these files in the program files with your folder EnergyXT then create a desktop shortcut or copy the shortcut onto your desktop.   The more you update your EnergyXT the more files will be included like rexloader, etc. You can now hop from one computer to another always make sure to keep your flashdrive safe and secure. This is what Im doing now, from Dell Inspiron to Sony Vaio to my wife's HP mini.  Really portable and handy.

Subtle Culprits - new band to follow this 2015

I recently formed a group called Subtle Culprits. It was pure luck to meet all these awesome musicians. It all started with JoinMyBand.  I was desperate for a vocalist and do some acoustic duo so I posted on JoinMyBand as well as Gumtree some ads that Im interested for a vocalist to collaborate with and that Im based in Romsey. There were people who showed interest i.e. emailed me and contacted me. There was one as well who came and visited for an audition. I really admired her voice but still didn't work out because it took me awhile to contact her back after that audition due to moving houses. Anyways, she did not reply or show any interest after that. So, I continued trying my luck. The first one to join was Dan. He got interested because we are from the same area (Romsey). So he messaged me and said that he is a songwriter and a musician. Can play guitar but much comfortable with the bass. So we arranged a meetup and chat, and we did. Exchanged some ideas and songs online...
