Never forget your first band

My first band back home in the Philippines was and is Frozbyte. As the saying goes, "Never forget your first band" because that's where you first experience the hype, the thrill and the endless energy and effort of doing something from one sacrifices to another especially money and time. Most of us were Nursing Students when we started to re-group and make Frozbyte a serious band and booked gigs from one after the other i.e. School gigs, special occasions, birthday parties, etc. and that’s why members keep changing and adding up coz after we graduated most of the original members worked abroad.

Louie, a nurse, our lead vocals and is now in New York. John2x, a nurse, our drummer and is now in Florida. Dolores, accountancy graduate, former bassist that became our second female lead singer after Anelyn... and is in Roxas City, Capiz happily married with two kids. Jingle, a marketing graduate, is our famous lead guitarist that sounded like Steve Vai and/or Joe Satriani is now in Manila, a call center agent. Shane, electrical communications engineer, is the youngest in the band and is our very best bassist by far who plays like Flea and even sounds like Flea. He loves RHCP (Red Hot Chili Pepper) and RATM (Rage Against The Machine) and is in Roxas City, Capiz. We had two additional vocals when Louie went abroad and Dolores got married. They are Ruby and Rommelle. Ruby, a nurse is now in the Middle East while Rommelle is a nautical graduate who concentrated more on his band and is doing well in the Philippines as a singer, guitarist and keyboardist. Derrick Ray, a Management Accountancy graduate, our sessionist keyboardist and also sessionist bassist. As for me, I’m a nurse myself who still loves music, plays the guitar, keyboards, drums and a little bit of this and that, and now working in England as a Senior Health Care Assistant. Lastly, a special member of the group named Blue does the research for our songs and is also our critic in our performance and sound.

My Mobile Recording Studio

My mobile laptop recording studio This does not mean having a portable handheld recording device and also this is not the proper recording studio, which have all the complete amenities and gear but what I mean when I say Mobile recording studio is that this is something that can be transferred to any location and set up as quickly as you can. Like for example, in my case, I don’t have a proper recording studio or room to record so sometimes I’m doing it in our lounge or other times I will set it up in our dining area or sometimes in our bedroom. Also by saying mobile recording studio, in any case I’m moving to another place I can easily pack up things and bring it with me like for example I’m here in England as of now and if ever I’m going back home in the Philippines after my contract expires, I can easily bring my recording studio gear and equipment back home. One Love for Abra Charity Concert at The Star of Kings London

Had a wonderful time doing a charity gig for Abra, an island back home in the Philippines where children there are too eager to learn, however, they don't have a proper or decent school to study and no school supplies. The project was very successful. Port Mallilin and Carol Panday invited artists from Pilipino Musikero sa UK and loads pledged their support. Also among the acts were Arisxandra Libantino, the pride of Filipinos in Britain who was one of the finalists. I am the guitarist of Crossedwind and we are dubbed as the House Band during the gig. We opened the event and then we were the closing act. It was a fun night. There were some challenges though. Like for example, although myself and Ashley (sound director) were early to set up the amps and instruments, the pub's sound guy didn't like that we brought guitar, bass, and keyboard amps because it's going to be too loud. Front Act on Introvoys Concert in Roxas City

We were invited to do a front act on Introvoys Concert in Roxas. During those time, Introvoys was a big hit especially with their song Line To Heaven and Will I Survive to name afew. There were a lot of bands that time who's going to front act and I can't remember exactly the names but there's one that I can still remember and it's called Freaky Deaky, not sure if the spelling is correct. They sang Nirvana, Offspring, Collective Soul, etc. where they almost consume the entire time for all the frontacts. We were the last band and the organizer asked us to cut short with our setlist and we ended up with just 3 songs. We were not pleased but anyhow, we still chose our 3 best songs and that were Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie And The Blowfish where I was the one who sang it, To Be With You by Mr. Big and our bassist, Dolores sang it then our last song was Hotel California by Eagles where Jingle and I blend together at the ending guitar solo and Louie sang it.
