Frozbyte in Pilar Capiz

We were already playing in Mariano's Bar and Grill restaurant, when the Mayor of Pilar, Capiz saw us and loved what we're doing and the song choices that we got so, he asked one of his staff to invite us to play in Pilar during his Victory party.

It was a straight forward deal, like how much was the band's talent fee, how many songs or hours do you play and what are we going to prepare for you guys.  And the deal was closed immediately. We learned our lesson during the Panay gig and we rented a proper PA system for the band as well as brought our own stuff.  We used a Fernando drum kit that was included in the PA sound system package that we rented.  Brought our portable guitar amps again which is Rage Amps that was included in RJs guitar package. Mic in again to our proper PA.  Bass guitar was directly plugged in to the PA system.  The gig and the sound quality was very good, apart from the crowd because they like something else, not the kind of music that we play in a pub.  They wanted the song Shalala Lala by Venga Boys, so what we did we asked the operator to play that song and when the crowd went wild and dance in front of us, we shifted and play our songs.

The way we were accommodated by the mayor which is Mayor Patricio during that time along side his wife was superb. We stayed overnight in their house, although he offered his rest house by the beach and said that we can stay there but we declined not because we were shy but because we don't know the place and we wanted to be safe and more importantly the food.  In their house the food was so nice.  From supper til breakfast the next morning, it was lovely, super delicious.  Then, in the morning, he asked his driver to tour us in Pilar and drove us to their famous cave. We enjoyed our day there at the cave, it was such a fun.  We were treated like a proper celebrity with a private van and an exclusive driver.

In conclusion, out of town gigs are not only oftentimes because of the money but it's more of meeting nice people and the whole experience not to mention just playing on stage but like the food served and shared and the laughter and the memories.

My Mobile Recording Studio

My mobile laptop recording studio This does not mean having a portable handheld recording device and also this is not the proper recording studio, which have all the complete amenities and gear but what I mean when I say Mobile recording studio is that this is something that can be transferred to any location and set up as quickly as you can. Like for example, in my case, I don’t have a proper recording studio or room to record so sometimes I’m doing it in our lounge or other times I will set it up in our dining area or sometimes in our bedroom.   Also by saying mobile recording studio, in any case I’m moving to another place I can easily pack up things and bring it with me like for example I’m here in England as of now and if ever I’m going back home in the Philippines after my contract expires, I can easily bring my recording studio gear and equipment back home.   So, this is not an on-site recording studio or a portable recording studio this is just my own mobile l...

One Love for Abra Charity Concert at The Star of Kings London

Had a wonderful time doing a charity gig for Abra, an island back home in the Philippines where children there are too eager to learn, however, they don't have a proper or decent school to study and no school supplies.  The project was very successful.  Port Mallilin and Carol Panday invited artists from Pilipino Musikero sa UK and loads pledged their support.  Also among the acts were Arisxandra Libantino, the pride of Filipinos in Britain who was one of the finalists. I am the guitarist of Crossedwind and we are dubbed as the House Band during the gig. We opened the event and then we were the closing act.  It was a fun night.  There were some challenges though.  Like for example, although myself and Ashley (sound director) were early to set up the amps and instruments, the pub's sound guy didn't like that we brought guitar, bass, and keyboard amps because it's going to be too loud.  He just want us to use their monitor speakers and house spea...

Front Act on Introvoys Concert in Roxas City

We were invited to do a front act on Introvoys Concert in Roxas.  During those time, Introvoys was a big hit especially with their song Line To Heaven and Will I Survive to name afew. There were a lot of bands that time who's going to front act and I can't remember exactly the names but there's one that I can still remember and it's called Freaky Deaky, not sure if the spelling is correct. They sang Nirvana, Offspring, Collective Soul, etc. where they almost consume the entire time for all the frontacts.  We were the last band and the organizer asked us to cut short with our setlist and we ended up with just 3 songs.  We were not pleased but anyhow, we still chose our 3 best songs and that were Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie And The Blowfish where I was the one who sang it, To Be With You by Mr. Big and our bassist, Dolores sang it then our last song was Hotel California by Eagles where Jingle and I blend together at the ending guitar solo and Louie sang it. The crowd...
